Avis des critiques de vin
Closed on the nose, elegant with fine but plentiful tannins that layer up fast in the palate. Violet and peony floral notes, clear savoury edge of blue fruits this is precise, well structured, huge potential for ageing but also for pleasure. Yield 32 hl/ha. Harvest September 10 to 24. 45% new oak. 3.6 pH, one vat with whole bunch fermentation (4% of the blend). No need to green harvest because yields so naturally low. Sultry nose with ripe red fruit and soft jasmine and fragrance – dried flowers, pot pourri. Juicy and filling with a lovely light hand in terms of tannins although they provide the structure and grip they're not intrusive. Still a little tight and focused with a firm frame guiding the flavours forward, but there’s energy and purity too. Feels complex yet at the same time really approachable with blackcurrant leaf, cedar, tobacco and violets. Mouthwatering and lifted, nothing feels heavy and you're left with a smile on your face. Ageing will help soften the Cabernets. 6% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. Ageing 45% new oak. One plot of Cabernet Franc was whole bunch fermented.

A Cabernet-dominant blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot that will spend 16-18 months in 45% new French oak, the 2025 Château Marquis D'Alesme is a round, supple, and polished Margaux that shines in the vintage. Darker berry fruits, graphite, spice, and tobacco define the aromatics, and on the palate, it's medium-bodied, with a silky, layered mouthfeel, quality tannins, and outstanding length.

The 2025 Marquis d'Alesme Becker was tasted twice, at the château and at a négociant. Picked September 10 to 24 at 32 hl/ha, it is raised in 45% new French oak. It has a fragrant nose, quintessentially Margaux, with delineated scents of black cherries, violet, incense and light crushed stone. Very seductive, very precise. The palate is medium-bodied, with rounded tannins, a keen line of acidity and just a very slight herbaceous element behind that black, plummy fruit that should be subsumed during élevage. A decent Margaux, though this year I prefer its sister Margaux, the 2025 Labégorce.
