The Shaw + Smith M3 Chardonnay 2021 is a stunning example of Australian winemaking, showcasing the unique terroir of the Adelaide Hills. The M3 Vineyard, situated at an elevation of 400 meters, benefits from the cool-climate conditions ideal for producing high-quality Chardonnay. The region's extended ripening period develops complex flavours, while the high diurnal temperature range—warm days and cool nights—at this altitude ensures vibrant acidity. The 2021 M3 Chardonnay displays an expressive bouquet of citrus, white peach, and subtle flint. On the palate, it is elegant and layered, with notes of nectarine, lemon curd, and a hint of almond, balanced by a refreshing acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish. There is a prominent lick of French oak that is balanced out by a long complex finish.

A favourite amongst our customers, the Cartology is one of the best Chenin Blancs coming out of South Africa. The 2019 Cartology was whole-bunch-pressed and aged in a mix of cement eggs, amphorae, foudres, and old barrels. Its bouquet reveals honeysuckle, white peach, and hints of orange peel. A crisp palate of citrus peel, lime, and ginger finishes elegantly. At €32.95 inc VAT per bottle, this is a steal.
The Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2021 offers remarkable value compared to Burgundy, with a refined, mineral-rich profile reminiscent of top Premier Crus. This taut, concentrated Chardonnay showcases grapefruit, lime blossom, and briny oyster shell, supported by vibrant acidity. Its Burgundian poise and precision, combined with an approachable price, make it a must-have for Chardonnay enthusiasts.
Didier and Pascal Picq craft pure, expressive Chablis without using oak, resulting in wines that are mineral-rich, transparent, and full of character. Their approach avoids the sharpness often found in unoaked wines, creating balanced Chablis that embody a nervy, almost Zen-like quality. These wines showcase top-notch winemaking, bringing out Chablis’s authentic, terroir-driven essence. Neal Martin of Vinous is a big fan of the wines and so are we.

Best of all, these wines are easy on the wallet. During our tasting at the Amsterdam Cape Cru, the Minimalist Wines Syrahs stood out as some of the best, impressing us with their quality and potential. Coming in at €32.95 per bottle and 96 points from Vinous, this is a real bargain.
Jean Foillard’s Morgon Côte du Py is a benchmark Beaujolais that transcends Beaujolais and stands toe-to-toe with some of Burgundy's finest red. The vineyards are situated on the iconic Côte du Py, a hillside known for its schist and granite soils that impart a distinct minerality to the wines. The combination of these soils, the region's microclimate, and the old Gamay vines creates wines of remarkable depth, complexity, and longevity. This is one of our favourite Beaujolais and we can't recommend it enough.
Le Volte 2022, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia’s third wine, is an approachable blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Emphasising Cabernet this year, it offers Tuscan vibrancy with Bordeaux structure. Aged in Ornellaia’s barrels, this aromatic red is highly praised by critics, scoring 92-93 points, and delivers exceptional value whilst offering a glimpse into what the older sibling are.
