The Adelaide Hills has quickly grown to fame producing lean and mineral yet fruit-forward wines due to being one of Australia’s coolest and most elevated wine regions (350 to 710m in elevation). Cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith MW established Shaw + Smith in 1989 with the aim to produce contemporary, high-quality wines that rub shoulders with not just the best in Australia, but the world. They’ve quickly grown to fame with their subregion bottlings of Adelaide Hills showing just how terroir-driven the region can be. The Shaw + Smith M3 Chardonnay stands as a shining example of Adelaide Hills' winemaking prowess.
