Muga Winery is a jewel in the crown of Rioja, producing signature wines that are an embodiment of the family's unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability.

Muga Winery is a family-owned Spanish winery located in the heart of the Rioja region since its inception in 1932. Founded by Isaac Muga and his wife Aurora Caño, the winery is now run by the third generation of the Muga family. The Muga Winery is proud of its traditional winemaking techniques that have been passed down through generations of winemakers. The winery produces top-quality wines that are an expression of the unique Rioja region, including the renowned Rioja Muga. The estate vineyards cover over 250 acres and are situated on hillside terraces with exceptional soil conditions and microclimates that are optimal for grape growing.

The consistently high ratings from wine critics worldwide testify to the impeccable standards upheld by the Muga family for close to a century. Wine critics have given high praise to the wines produced by Muga Winery. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate states, "Muga is one of the few remaining wineries that is still true to tradition in its winemaking techniques. Its wines have an authenticity and originality that are hard to come by in today's modern wine world."

Tim Atkin MW's classification of Bodega Muga as a Rioja 'First Growth' speaks volumes about the exceptional quality and prestige of their wines.

Muga's unique use of oak:

Muga’s house style comes down to their use of oak. Owning their own cooperage to produce around 1,500 of their own barriques each year, Muga ages everything in oak with a mix of both old and new. Along with the likes of Lopez de Heredia, CVNE, and La Rioja Alta; Muga is one of the handfuls of estates staying true to the century’s old philosophy of the region's past, using traditional regional grapes and ageing in a portion of American oak barrels.

Muga Rioja Reserva:

The Muga Reserva is a blend of tempranillo, garnacha, mazuelo, and graciano grapes. It is aged for 24 months in oak barrels and then refined in the bottle for a minimum of 12 months. The wine has a harmonious balance of fruit and oak, with flavours of red fruits and spices. Muga Reserva is a classic wine, yet it reflects the winery's commitment to innovation and quality, achieving a perfect balance between youthfulness and elegance.

Muga Reserva Especial:

Muga Reserva Especial is an exclusive wine produced in exceptional vintages. It is a blend of tempranillo, garnacha, and graciano grapes. The wine is aged for 36 months in oak barrels, resulting in a deep ruby-red wine with aromas of black fruits, tobacco, and spices. It has a full-bodied, silky-smooth palate with flavours of ripe fruits, vanilla, and cedar. It showcases the winery's commitment to traditional winemaking techniques and sustainable practices.

Muga Prado Enea:

Made from tempranillo, garnacha, mazuelo, and graciano grapes, Muga Prado Enea is one of the most sought after wines from Rioja. It is aged for three years in oak barrels and then refined for a minimum of 12 months in the bottle. The wine has a complex and intense aroma of red fruits, spices, and vanilla, with a long and scented finish. Muga Prado Enea is the epitome of elegance and finesse, a wine that showcases the winery's unrivaled craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Torre Muga:

Torre Muga is a top-tier wine produced by Muga Winery. It is named after the emblematic tower that stands in the middle of the winery estate. The wine is a blend of tempranillo, mazuelo, and graciano grapes, with a small percentage of garnacha. The grapes come from the oldest vineyards owned by the Muga family, and production is limited to only the finest vintages. After a painstaking selection process, the grapes are fermented traditionally in oak vats and aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. The wine is then refined in the bottle for a minimum of 16 months before release. The result is a wine of exceptional balance, elegance, and finesse. It has a deep colour, intense fruit aromas, and flavours of ripe berries, vanilla, and spices. Torre Muga is a wine that showcases the best of Rioja, and it is considered one of the finest wines produced in Spain.
