Verite

VeriteProducer from California, United States

Nestled within the picturesque landscapes of Sonoma County, Vérité Winery stands as a beacon of fine wine craftsmanship, marrying Old World traditions with the New World's bold character. Founded in 1998, the winery embarked on a visionary quest under the guiding hand of its founder, Jess Jackson, and illustrious winemaker, Pierre Seillan. Together, they set out to produce Bordeaux-inspired wines in California that could rival those from Pomerol, a lofty ambition that would require not just skill and patience, but a deep understanding of terroir and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

"Verite consistently produces some of the most profound wines in Sonoma County, with a focus on Bordeaux varieties that rival the best of France." - Wine Advocate

"Verite exemplifies the pinnacle of Sonoma winemaking, with wines that are both powerful and graceful, capturing the essence of their vineyard sites." - Vinous

Jess Jackson, already celebrated for his success with Kendall-Jackson, along with Pierre Seillan, who brought decades of winemaking expertise from France, believed firmly in the potential of Sonoma County's diverse microclimates and soils to produce wines of extraordinary depth, complexity, and age-ability. Seillan, in particular, introduced the concept of "micro-cru" farming, an approach that meticulously matches vine varietals with the specific plots of land most suited to their optimal expression. This philosophy lies at the heart of Vérité's operations, underscoring the belief that exceptional wine is born from the land itself.

The estate's vineyards are strewn across the most esteemed appellations within Sonoma, including Alexander Valley, Bennett Valley, and Knights Valley. Each vineyard site is carefully chosen for its unique climatic conditions and soil compositions, varying from volcanic rock to clay and loam. Through these varied terroirs, Vérité aims to showcase the remarkable versatility of the Sonoma County region, echoing the diversity found within the vineyards of Bordeaux.
