Parusso Winery, located in the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy, has a rich history that dates back over a century. The winery was founded in 1901 when Gaspare Parusso purchased the Mariondino vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. The family's journey in winemaking began in earnest when Armando Parusso, Gaspare's grandson, started bottling wine under the family name in 1971. Armando’s son, Marco Parusso, joined the family business in 1986 after completing enological studies and brought a modern approach to viticulture and winemaking.
The Parusso estate spans 28 hectares across the prestigious vineyards of Monforte d'Alba and Castiglione Falletto, including notable crus such as Bussia, Mosconi, and Mariondino. These vineyards are situated in the heart of the Barolo district, an area renowned for its exceptional terroir. The soils in this region are a complex mix of marl, sandstone, clay, and sand, which contribute to the unique characteristics of the wines. Each vineyard within the estate is managed with great care to maintain its distinct identity, allowing Parusso wines to express the true essence of their terroir.
The Bussia vineyard is known for its elegance and finesse, thanks to its chalky, marly soil. The Mosconi vineyard in Monforte d'Alba features white marl and tuff stone soil, producing wines with structure and class. The Mariondino vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, with its marly sandstone and sand veins, yields wines that are spicy and persuasive. These varied soil types, combined with the favorable microclimates and meticulous vineyard management, enable Parusso to produce wines of remarkable complexity and depth.
