The story of Anwilka Vineyards began when two of Bordeaux's most esteemed figures, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, co-owner of Château Angélus, and Bruno Prats, former owner of Château Cos d'Estournel, joined forces with Lowell Jooste of Klein Constantia Estate. Captivated by the potential of the terroir in the Stellenbosch region, their joint vision was to produce exceptional red wines that would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world's best.

The vineyard is tucked away in the Helderberg subregion of Stellenbosch, an area well known for its rich, fertile soils and a climate highly conducive to viticulture. The cooling breezes from the nearby Atlantic Ocean create a unique microclimate that moderates temperatures, allowing for an extended ripening period. This combination of natural factors is pivotal in developing the complex flavours and aromas characteristic of Anwilka wines.

Spanning approximately 40 hectares, Anwilka Vineyards is dedicated to sustainable farming practices. This commitment to stewardship of the land ensures not only the health of the vineyard but also the quality of the fruit produced. The carefully selected grape varieties, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot, are tended with meticulous care, reflecting a profound respect for nature’s abundance.

Under the guidance of its skilled winemaking team, Anwilka has focused on producing a limited portfolio, with an emphasis on quality over quantity. The flagship wine, simply named "Anwilka," is a compelling blend that showcases the depth and elegance that South African wines can achieve. This blend is characterized by its rich, luscious texture, balanced tannins, and notes that range from dark berries to subtle spice, epitomizing the harmony between power and finesse.

In addition to its acclaimed reds, the vineyard also produces a small selection of white wines, demonstrating the versatility and potential of its terroir.
