The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Garenne 1er Cru, a lieu-dit shared between Pernot and Duc de Magenta (aka Louis Jadot) if you wish to compare, has a taut and fresh bouquet with impressive mineralité and tension. The palate shows exquisite delineation, discrete new oak just imparting a subtle creaminess to the texture. There is fine depth and a dash of spice toward the finish. This will give 12 to 15 years of drinking pleasure, possibly longer.
A fraction more lemon than lime in the colour. Discreet in bouquet though with a suggestion of more concentration to follow. A little lemon zest starts to emerge, broader and fleshier in style on the palate, with waves of attractive fruit that is not too ripe, but adequately so and with good concentration. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Oct 2024.
