The most refined and understated Montevertines ever

"The 2018 is one of the most refined, understated Montevertines ever. Silky, elegant and gracious, the 2018 is an absolute winner." - Antonio Galloni
Montevertine is one of the most iconic wineries in Tuscany, nestled in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Founded in the 1960s by Sergio Manetti, Montevertine is nestled in the hamlet of Radda in Chianti. Initially a holiday home, it soon became a full winery after Manetti planted vineyards and produced his first wine in 1971. The success of that vintage inspired him to dedicate himself to winemaking, turning Montevertine into a renowned estate.
Manetti focused on pure Sangiovese wines, standing apart from the Chianti tradition of blending. He believed in the variety’s ability to reflect the unique terroir of Radda, producing authentic, expressive wines that embody Tuscany’s character.
Montevertine’s vineyards, sitting at 425 metres above sea level, span 18 hectares and follow organic practices. The winery employs traditional methods, fermenting in cement tanks with natural yeasts, followed by ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. This careful approach ensures the wines develop complexity and depth over time while preserving the purity of the fruit.
Today we have availability of 'Montevertine', the second wine and younger brother to the unobtainable Le Pergole Torte. The wine, made from Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino grapes, is fermented in concrete vats and then matures for two years in a combination of Slavonian and Allier oak barrels. The Montevrtine 2018 is elegant, refined, pure and sexy receiving a double 95 points from the major critics; Vinous and the Wine Advocate.
We have a small quantity available which Sangiovese lovers should not miss.
Montevertine 2018
95 Points | Vinous, Antonio Galloni
The 2018 Montevertine is fabulous. Bright and translucent in the glass, the 2018 is elegant and light on its feet like few, if any, vintages I can remember. Rose petal, mint, lavender and bright red/purplish berry fruit linger. The 2018 is one of the most refined, understated Montevertines ever. Silky, elegant and gracious, the 2018 is an absolute winner.

This wine celebrates 100 years of family legacy connected to Montevertine's legendary founder Sergio Manetti. The bottle shows a little logo on the front label to commemorate the anniversary. The 2018 Montevertine follows the traditional blending formula of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino that goes through a simple winemaking process that starts off in cement and continues into oak casks for 24 months. Keeping in with the well-established house style, the wine delivers enormous quality and clarity of fruit with bright cherry, rose, cassis and fragrant potting soil. These elegant results capture the promise of Sangiovese. Production is 33,000 bottles.
