2022 Cathiard Vineyard
Cathiard Vineyard, owned by Florence and Nicolas Cathiard of Bordeaux’s Château Smith Haut Lafitte, is one of Napa Valley’s most exciting new projects. Situated in St. Helena, the estate is dedicated to crafting exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon with the same precision and elegance that defines their Bordeaux wines. Committed to organic and biodynamic farming, the Cathiards focus on terroir-driven, age-worthy wines. With their first vintages receiving critical acclaim, Cathiard Vineyard is quickly establishing itself among Napa’s elite producers.
The 2022 Napa Valley vintage was marked by extreme heat and drought, with a significant Labor Day heatwave testing vineyard resilience. Despite challenges, old vines and meticulous vineyard management produced wines of depth, intensity, and balance. Cathiard Vineyard Estate 2022 reflects this vintage’s power and precision, showcasing rich dark fruit, refined tannins, and a long, elegant finish. With the Cathiards' commitment to organic farming and Bordeaux-inspired winemaking, this vintage is a standout expression of Napa’s terroir and ageing potential.
Sourced from 45-year-old vines planted at over 365 metres in elevation, the 2022 Cathiard Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure, terroir-driven expression of the estate’s oldest vines in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. Aged for 20 months in 80% new French oak, it delivers an opulent black-fruited profile, layered with forest floor, redwood, and loamy earth. The palate is expansive and structured, with powerful yet finely balanced tannins and a saline-acid tension that extends to an exceptionally long finish.
Releasing today at €329 IB per bottle with top scores from Jane Anson and Decanter who both score it 98-points. This is one for the Napa lovers.

Intense red-purple. Fruit-forward and luxurious, skilfully crafted. Intense, ripe red and black fruits, aged leather and warm spices. The powerful, opulent tannins still need time to fully integrate, particularly at the lengthy finish. Grown on 25 hectares of the estate’s oldest, hillside vines in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. 80% new French oak for ageing.
98 Points | Decanter, Jonathan Cristaldi
Sourced from 45-year-old vines planted at over 365 metres in elevation, Cathiard Vineyard’s 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the highest point on their Napa Valley estate. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 20 months in roughly 80% new French oak, producing a wine of both power and elegance in the 2022 vintage. It showcases a deep black-fruited profile with nuances of rich forest character, redwood, and loamy earth, all leading to a full-bodied expression that balances tannic power and fruit density. The mid-palate is structured and expansive, while a saline-acid tension carries the wine to an exceptionally long finish, where pure currant, blackberry, and black cherry notes mingle with wet slate and graphite minerality, rounding out a satisfying, slightly spicy close. Just gorgeous.
