Score Upgrade to 100-Points - La Mission Haut-Brion 2022

Score Upgrade to 100-Points - La Mission Haut-Brion 2022

La Mission Haut-Brion impressed critics during En Primeur, earning solid 97-99-point scores across the board. Antonio Galloni, who initially rated it 97-99, has now released his in-bottle assessment, upgrading it to a perfect 100 points, cementing its status as one of the vintage’s standout wines. Will the other critics follow suit in upgrading their score?

The general market trend when a wine gets 100 points is that the price goes up as collectors flock to add it to their collections. If you're a fan of La Mission, I would seriously consider adding these to your collection now.

Be ahead of the curve and add these to your collection today.

"The 2022 is seamless and resonant, with magnificent balance and tons of pure class. I would be thrilled to own it. In a word: dazzling." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The 2022 La Mission Haut-Brion is a total stunner, just as it was en primeur. An archetype of finesse. Dark and explosive, with no hard edges, the 2022 is captivating right out of the gate." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

La Mission Haut-Brion 2022 reaffirms its prestigious status, standing toe-to-toe with its First Growth sibling, Château Haut-Brion. Sharing the same winemaking team, this vintage features a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, enhancing its structure and ageing potential. Like the great vintages of the past two decades, it possesses depth, balance, and refinement, showcasing dark fruit, graphite, and fine tannins. A modern classic in the making, this is a wine built for longevity.

During the En Primeur tasting Neal Martin wrote; "At the moment, it has got its nose just in front of its First Growth sibling...at least at the moment. For sure, it's going to be one of the standouts of the 2022 vintage."

With only a handful of vintages having been given the perfect 100-Point score by Vinous with most of them being unobtainable these days, the 2022 is showing itself to be a solid buy and strong recommendation. With a drinking window to 2062, this is going to be a wine that you'll want in the cellar.

100 Points | Vinous, Antonio Galloni
The 2022 La Mission Haut-Brion is a total stunner, just as it was en primeur. An archetype of finesse. Dark and explosive, with no hard edges, the 2022 is captivating right out of the gate. Vibrant red fruit, blood orange, new leather and exotic spice notes are all beautifully alive in the glass. The 2022 is seamless and resonant, with magnificent balance and tons of pure class. I would be thrilled to own it. In a word: dazzling.

97-99 Points | Vinous, Neal Martin
The 2022 La Mission Haut-Brion is matured in 70% new oak. It has a very refined bouquet with mineral-driven dark berry fruit, hints of Earl Grey and freshly-rolled tobacco, focused with exquisite delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that still provide the backbone to what is the most elegant La Missions that I have tasted at this stage. It is harmonious and silky toward its extremely persistent finish. At the moment, it has got its nose just in front of its First Growth sibling...at least at the moment. For sure, it's going to be one of the standouts of the 2022 vintage.

98-99 Points | James Suckling
This has real al dente fruit character on the palate with lemon rind and blackcurrants with blueberries. Lead pencil and stone, too. Full-bodied with chewy and juicy tannins that are primary and growing quickly on the palate as you taste it. Reminds me of the 1978, but brighter and more precise. 51.7% cabernet sauvignon, 43.2% merlot and 5.1% cabernet franc.
