Van Loggerenberg Wines, a family-run winery located in Paarl, South Africa, was established by winemaker Lukas Van Loggerenberg and his wife Roxanne in 2016. Lukas, originally from Rawsonville, found his passion for winemaking during harvest internships and further honed his skills at Elsenburg Agricultural College. After gaining experience both locally and internationally, Lukas decided to venture out on his own, driven by a desire to create wines that reflect the purity and complexity of South African terroir.

"The Graft Syrah from Van Loggerenberg is one of the best Syrahs in South Africa. It exhibits pure red fruit and mineral acidity, a testament to the quality of the Polkadraai Hills terroir." - Neal Martin, Vinous

The vineyards managed by Van Loggerenberg Wines are primarily situated in Stellenbosch and the Swartland, two of South Africa's most renowned wine regions. The Stellenbosch vineyards, particularly in the Polkadraai Hills, are known for their decomposed granite soils, which impart a distinct minerality to the wines. The Swartland vineyards, with their sandy soils and Mediterranean climate, contribute to the freshness and balance found in the wines. This diverse terroir allows Lukas to craft wines that are both expressive and site-specific, showcasing the unique characteristics of each vineyard.

Low Interventuion Winemaking Philosophy:

Lukas Van Loggerenberg emphasizes low-intervention winemaking techniques, allowing the natural qualities of the grapes to shine through. Fermentation is typically spontaneous, utilizing natural yeasts, and the wines are aged in a combination of old oak barrels and stainless steel tanks to maintain their purity and freshness. This approach results in wines that are elegant, balanced, and reflective of their origin.
