Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Fattoria Le Pupille is a leading winery in the Maremma region. Under the direction of Elisabetta Geppetti, the charming and passionate proprietor, the winery has risen to become one of the finest in the region. With the guidance of the legendary winemaker Giacomo Tachis, known for his creation of world-renowned wines such as Sassicaia, Solaia, and Tignanello, Elisabetta aimed to create a wine that would rival the best in the region.
The 2017 vintage marked the 30th year of Saffredi, and it has been hailed as a triumph for Elisabetta, with the wine being considered one of the finest in the region. James Suckling has even gone so far as to refer to Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi as the "Lafite of Tuscany," solidifying its status as a First Growth of Tuscany.
Since its creation in 1987, the proportions have varied over the years but the classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot are used making it a typical ‘super Tuscan’. Enologist Luca D'Attoma came on board a few years ago and the wines are now going from strength to strength. Fattoria Le Pupille also produces a white wine that is absolutely class as well as a pure and seductive 100% Sangiovese called Poggio Valente that should not be missed.
