What the critics say:

95 Points | Real Review, Bob Campbell

I love the purity, precision and concentration in this powerful organic sauvignon blanc. Peach, guava, melon, saline and oyster-shell flavours are underpinned by taut, ripe acidity. A very attractive sauvignon

93 Points | JamesSuckling.com

This has some youthful, flinty notes with lime peel and green passion fruit, as well as peach and wet stone. The palate is crisp, composed and quite nicely coiled into shape. Punchy and pure citrus and tropical flavors sit fresh. Drink now. Screw cap.

91 Points | Wine Advocate

Dog Point's 2020 Sauvignon Blanc boasts explosively pungent scents of boxwood, passion fruit and grapefruit. A bit more sedate on the medium-bodied palate, the flavors skew more toward pineapple and grapefruit with touches of fig and nectarine. This shows ample concentration, a silky mouthfeel, bright citrusy flavors and good length. In sum, it's a fine example of classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Dog Point

"Dog Point makes pure, low-yield Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its organic vineyards in Marlborough"

- Rebecca Gibb MW | Vinous

Dog Point is the joint venture of two pioneers, James Healy and Ivan Sutherland who met whilst working at New Zealand wine legend Cloudy Bay, which put New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on the global fine wine map. The pair shared a vision of a more hands-on vineyard management and winemaker style. They decided to launch Dog Point in 2004 with a focus on organic winemaking philosophies and biodiversity on the property.

The Dog Point became known for making a new wave style of Sauvignon Blanc; flint and mineral notes are more prominent than the classic New Zealand gooseberry notes. A wine with roots more relatable to Sancerre than New Zealand. Dog Point’s Section 94 Cuvee is one of the best barrel-aged Sauvignons from Marlborough displaying sexy lees, reductive flinty notes, and spice balanced out by bright fruit.
